Our story
Our story
Born and raised in Ravenna on the Adriatic coast in 1977. Like almost all of you, my father gave me my first wetsuit at a very young age, when I followed him on his spearfishing sessions, although I must admit I was never able to shoot a fish after getting my scuba certification. My family instilled in me a passion for the sea and its activities. As a youth, I windsurfed and sailed. As I grew older and got my license, I took my first surfing excursions to Biarritz, a place I've remained very fond of. Wonderful memories. I first discovered oars on the lifeguards' rescue boats on the beaches of Ravenna, a job I did for a few years during university. At 23, I earned my scuba certification and, in the 2000s, I did a few kitesurfing sessions.
Oceania Gloves: I used work gloves in the summer for recreational activities and diving. I thought it would be great to have a glove like this for winter sessions. But only if I made it waterproof could the gloves have a good level of warmth. And to make a glove waterproof, we needed a silicone cuff, made of a specific type of silicone. Our in-depth knowledge of the world of scuba diving and dry suits, however, told us that silicone was an impossible material to glue. Making a work glove "waterproof" was a nearly impossible task. Advances in materials and the exploration of new adhesive solutions allowed me to attach my first glove, but the silicone cuff wasn't suitable for that purpose. So I began designing silicone cuffs to make gloves waterproof for long sports sessions. My first gloves didn't last long, but now they're almost perfect. The Oceania brand, which I own and operate, takes its name from my passion for the sea and travel. Some might say, "Did you ever do it all by yourself?" The truth is, my suppliers initially had some doubts about the project's feasibility, but I was able to create these products thanks in part to their hard work and advice. Thank you all.
